City Life Workshops, where children dream of Marmara for a more livable world, have been completed. 187 children from 11 provinces participated in the workshops organized in collaboration with the Marmara Municipalities Union and Arkki Turkey, with the support of Kalebodur and hosted by the municipalities.
With the "Imagining Marmara: Life in the City Workshops" held between 21 August and 23 September within the scope of Marmara Urban Forum (MARUF) and MARUF on the Go events, children living in 11 cities of the Marmara Region imagined the environments they would like to live in. The ideas and model visuals produced by the children were presented at MARUF23, October 4-7, at the Istanbul Congress Center.
Through "Imagining Marmara: Life in the City Workshops", of which Kalebodur, which continues to produce sustainable projects on different platforms, including academic processes, is among its supporters, children living in the region are given the ability to perceive the environment they live in from different perspectives and to evaluate the urban space from a design perspective is intended.
In the City Life Workshop, children built three-dimensional models of their ideas that will make the cities of the future beautiful, sustainable and inclusive. After thinking about issues such as new technologies, sustainability, integration and renewal in the workshop, they were involved in design-oriented thinking processes that emphasize drawing and creating models using manual dexterity. They individually produced the designs of the functions they chose (residences, parks, offices, hospitals, etc.) in a fictional city. In the last stage of the workshop, they shared the parts of the city they built with their friends and created the city of the future by combining all the parts.
