According to Dayioglu, hotel structures designed in the coziness of a house will become prominent and glass and ceramic materials that doesn't host any microbes and sensor fittings that reduces consumption will be preferred.

Designist founder Interior Architect Asli Arikan Dayioglu commentated the innovations that will be heard of and decorations trends that will confront us in hotel designs in 2022. Stating out that hotel designs with predominating natural colors and textures that appeal to all the senses of the users will be at the forefront, the architect thinks that especially sustainable spaces will earn success. And here are the design trends relayed by Asli Arikan Dayioglu:

We seek the sense of a house everywhere

Because of locking ourselves in houses with the Covid-19 pandemic, the coziness of a house is being sought also in accommodation places. Rather than fabrication spaces designed uniformly, people began to seek different spaces enriched with art and vintage furniture that remind the good old days. More personal and cozy spaces began to become more prominent. One of the most powerful mean is to create games that trigger emotions and senses in spaces and leave a lasting expression on the person so those who succeed in this will win.

Hotel rooms become both a house and an office

Needs and requests that changed as of by the year 2019, have brought along secondary houses, healthy and biophilic indoors, circadian lighting techniques and in and outdoor hybrids. Hotel rooms is an example and mass manufactured furniture is not gaining attention anymore. Designs specific to that hotel or valuable furniture collections are standing out. When they get back to their houses with social distancing, people began to travel and work at the same time. Accordingly, there is these travelers coming up who use hotel rooms both as a house and as an office. Rooms that once returned back usually after spending time outside, are now being used both as an office, a gym and a kitchen also in daytime. There's a lean towards areas where you can work on bed or at the table, mini kitchens and equipment and technologies that allow to do exercise in the room.

Accommodation designs are now more environment sensitive

Accommodation designs have finally become more environment sensitive. Especially the rising and new generation guests value sustainability more and more every day and look for these features in the hotels they stay in. Now what's expected in the projects is the material preferences and infra structures to be organized for minimum or zero-point carbon footprint. In addition, alongside sink fittings in bathrooms, more-conscious sensor systems which minimizes the water consumption also in showers are preferred to protect natural resources.

Glass and ceramic materials that doesn't host any microbes

Easy-to-clean, self-cleaning and anti-bacterial materials are preferred in restaurants. In the recent years, companies which are conducting various R&D studies, began to produce glass and ceramic materials that doesn't host any microbes. These type of materials will be seen more and more especially in the tourism sector that have a dense circulation and in indoors where people dabble in closely with surfaces and objects. For instance, Sisecam produced a coating that inactivates the viruses and bacteria on the surfaces and is conducting R&D studies in textile industry intended for micro-bacterial fabric production.
