Cement, Glass, Ceramics and Soil Products Exporters' Association (ÇCSİB) Ordinary General Assembly meeting was held in Ankara. Erdem Çenesiz, the current Chairman of the Board of Directors, was re-elected at the meeting where the new members of the board of directors and supervisory board were determined.
Cement, Glass, Ceramics and Soil Products Exporters' Association (ÇCSİB), which includes the ceramic, cement and glass industries and is the only and coordinating exporter association with over 2,000 members, held its Elective Ordinary General Assembly. At the meeting held in Ankara, the new board of directors and supervisory board members were determined. At the first meeting of the new management, Erdem Çenesiz, who has been the chairman since 2018, was re-elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ÇCSİB. Çenesiz will continue to serve as the chairman until the general assembly to be held in 2026.
Çenesiz: “We are one of the most successful countries in the world in our own sectors”
Reaffirming his confidence by being elected chairman for the second time in a row, Erdem Çenesiz drew attention to the success of exporting companies within the union in his speech after the election and said, “When we took office in 2018, the total exports of our sectors were at the level of 3.1 billion. Thanks to our strength in production, design and logistics, we have increased this figure every year. In fact, we have made our country one of the most successful countries in the world in our own sectors by continuing our activities with great devotion despite the pandemic period and the difficult economic conditions. As of the end of 2021, the total exports of our sectors amounted to 4.8 billion. The export of 1.4 billion dollars that we reached in the first quarter of this year shows that we will close the year 2022 with a high figure. We are now starting a new four-year term. At the end of this period, that is, in 2026, we aim to reach 10 billion dollars in exports.”
“We have provided a net foreign currency inflow of 25 billion dollars in 10 years”
Expressing that the domestic added value produced by the ceramics, cement and glass industries is three times the Turkey average, Çenesiz continued as follows; “In the last 10 years, we have provided our country with a net foreign exchange inflow of approximately 25 billion dollars. In addition to this, we contribute to social welfare as well as our economy with more than 100 thousand employments in three sectors. From now on, we will continue our export journey, which extends from all over Anatolia to the world, by putting it on each passing period.”
Emphasizing that the sectors within the Union are energy-intensive, ÇCSİB Chairman Çenesiz said, “Natural gas prices for ceramics and glass, coal prices for cement are vital. Although we are energy-intensive sectors, we produce a net current account surplus because we are sectors with high domestic added value.”
“We are like three separate exporters' unions”
Emphasizing that ÇCSİB, the sole coordinating union of the ceramics, cement and glass industries, works with the three major industries as if it were three separate exporters' unions, Çenesiz said, "In each term, vice chairmen are selected from our other two industries, apart from the chairman's industry, and they carry out their duties almost like the chairman of their industry. We believe that this harmony that has been going on for years will continue in the new period as well.”
