Almost all of the B2B business meetings between the participating companies and international buyers resulted in new trade agreements.

At the opening ceremony of UNICERA Istanbul, the fair with the highest brand value in our country; Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Hasan Buyukdede, TIM President Ismail Gulle, ATO President Gursel Baran, TSF Chairman of the Board Erdem Çenesiz, TIMDER Chairman of the Board Kemal Yıldırım and CNR Holding Marketing Group Head Mert Kaan Duman had speeches.

"We will discuss the natural gas hike again"

Hasan Buyukdede, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology, stated that they will re-discuss the natural gas hike, which is one of the most important problems of the ceramics industry. Expressing that he has been one of the ceramics and bathroom industry for years, Buyukdede said; “Everyone knows that someone who swallows the dust of the ceramic industry cannot easily deal with another job. The ceramics industry is one of the leading industrial sectors of our country. In addition to being the sector that uses domestic resources the most, it is also one of the biggest supporters of the country's economy. Our industry is renewing itself day by day as one of the oldest and fastest growing industries in Turkey. Especially in recent years, it has shown rapid development, following the world and collecting new and cutting-edge equipment and machinery. The last day, our industry had a justified reaction to the natural gas hike. As a ministry, we can initiate an investigation on this issue, and if there is an error in the application structure, we will do our best. Of course, we need to consult with industry representatives on this issue. I would like to let you know here that we will discuss this issue again, especially as the Ministry of Industry. Of course, the most important thing is that we need to get permanent results. The only solution for this is to activate our own gas in our own facilities. This project is within our 2023 targets, but it is possible to push the date earlier.”

“We have reached the highest figure in our history in exports”

TIM President Ismail Gulle said; “Fairs provide us with a good opportunity ground to expand our vision and expand our markets. UNICERA is of great importance as it covers the entire ceramic industry, in which we are the trendsetter. When we look at the export figures of our ceramics industry, we see a significant increase of twenty-nine percent in the first ten months of the year compared to the previous year. Our ceramic products exports increased by 307 million dollars in this period and reached 1.3 billion dollars. In the October export figures, which we announced yesterday, the upward momentum of our industry continued. In October, we exported 133 million dollars of ceramic products with an increase of 33 percent. In addition, we have reached the highest export figure in our history in our general exports. It is a very large sector, so the value that our fair will add to this economy is also very large.”

Erdem Cenesiz, President of the Turkish Ceramics Federation, said, “UNICERA Fair is a fair that is closely followed by the world ceramics industry as well as Turkey, where international brands that shape the ceramics industry also take part. A total of 100,000 people visit UNICERA every year, 30,000 of which are foreigners. We see that UNICERA has become a fair that attracts more and more attention every year from the export markets and whose participation percentages reach the same level as the domestic market customers. This situation gives us hope and motivates us for our industry, where the importance of exports is increasing day by day.”

“We left Italy behind”

TİMDER President Kemal Yildirim stated that we are among the top 10 countries in the ceramic industry worldwide; “With our installed capacity exceeding 500 million in the past months, we have surpassed Italy and become the second largest producer in Europe. In the field of Ceramic Sanitary Ware, we are the largest manufacturer in Europe with an installed capacity of 20 million. The fact that we have left behind in production a country whose name has been identified with ceramics for years is the most beautiful and tangible proof of our great success in the sector. Moreover, our sector is among the sectors with the highest added value, with a domestic raw material usage rate of 95%.” said.

Many products were introduced to the world for the first time

UNICERA Istanbul, the largest specialized fair of its field in Turkey, witnessed the most innovative products, designs, materials and technologies of the sector this year too. Bathroom products, floor-wall coverings, ceramic processing technologies, kitchen products, decoration products, packaging and storage products were exhibited at the fair, where domestic and foreign brands introduced the trends of 2022 for the first time. Visiting the fair after the opening, TOBB President Rifat Hisarciklioglu visited the stands and evaluated the fair with the participants.
