VITRA INTRODUCES ITS 100% RECYCLED TILE

• VitrA Tiles has produced Türkiye's first and only porcelain tile with 100% recycled content. VitrA Tiles introduced this concept, which it named nova vita, to architects, design professionals and industry stakeholders at a special event held at Istanbul Modern.

VitrA Tiles, the first and only manufacturer in Türkiye to develop porcelain tiles from 100% recycled materials, combines sustainable production with design through its nova vita concept, developed with its own R&D power. Having also started producing ceramic sinks from recycled waste materials two years ago, VitrA continues its work with a design-for-life approach. VitrA's 100% recycled porcelain tile concept, nova vita, brings together environmental responsibility, aesthetics, and functionality.

At a special launch event held at Istanbul Modern, VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu highlighted the brand's sustainable production and design approach, stating, "We consider design together with innovation and sustainability. The nova vita concept, produced entirely with recycled materials, is a strong reflection of our approach to developing future tile solutions with a more responsible production understanding."

Developed as a result of VitrA Tile's approach of transforming waste into value in its production processes, the nova vita concept includes the NovaDust, NovaDot, NovaFlake, NovaPetra, and NovaMarmo collections. These collections stand out with their refined color palettes inspired by nature and sophisticated combination possibilities. Designed to be used in harmony with each other and with other VitrA tile collections, these collections offer holistic design solutions for projects.

Electricity used in production comes from renewable sources

VitrA reinforces its contribution to the circular economy with 100% recycled porcelain tiles. Industrial wastewater is completely treated and reintroduced into the production cycle. More than 60% of the required electricity is supplied from the company's own renewable energy sources.

The products are manufactured meeting national and international technical standards without compromising aesthetics and performance. The recycled content rate is certified by SCS Global Services, and energy consumption is also saved thanks to shorter production times.

Installation for the recycling story of porcelain

A special installation was developed for the nova vita launch held at Istanbul Modern. The work was prepared based on the idea that waste, water, and heat energy in ceramic production are not the end of a process but parts of a continuously ongoing cycle. In the experience area, the transformation of waste clay back into raw material, the recovery of treated wastewater back into the production cycle, and the use of heat energy powered by solar energy to give the material its durable porcelain form was brought to life with data from the production process. The interactive floor reacted to the movements of visitors, making the three stages of the transformation visible step by step. Mirrored surfaces amplified this flow, reflecting the uninterrupted nature of the cycle in the space.
