TURKISH AND JAPANESE ARTISTS MET AT “MEMORY OF TRADITION”

Various events were held last year as part of the 100th anniversary of Turkey-Japan diplomatic relations. One of these was the exhibition titled “On the Trail of Cultural Heritage: Memory of Tradition” opened at the Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University Fine Arts Faculty Exhibition Hall. In the exhibition, Turkish and Japanese artists interpreted tea cups and coffee cups that are important in both cultures.

In order to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Turkiye-Japan diplomatic relations, the international ceramics exhibition titled “On the Trail of Cultural Heritage: Memory of Tradition”, organized by Prof. Melahat Altundag, faculty member of the Ceramics Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University, within the scope of the Scientific Research Social Responsibility Project, was opened between November 13 and December 7, 2024 at the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts.

In the exhibition curated by Assoc. Prof. Senem Aker Ensari and Prof. Melahat Altundag, “cups”, an important element of a cultural tradition that is similar in both countries, were interpreted by artists from both communities in a mutual exchange.
