  • The cooperation protocol signed between Uşak University and leather, textile, and ceramics companies has brought the three sectors together at the same table for the first time. Within the scope of the protocol signed between the Rectorate of Uşak University and RG Leather, Ağaoğlu Textile, and Keramika, the parties will combine both their academic knowledge and sector experience.

A cooperation protocol was signed between Uşak University and companies, including Keramika, at a ceremony held in the university's Senate Meeting Hall on April 16th. Unlike previous collaborations conducted separately, this protocol brings together the fields of leather, textiles, and ceramics. This joint structure is expected to lead to the development of interdisciplinary projects, the introduction of a new perspective in design and production processes, and the production of more tangible results from university-industry collaboration.

Within the scope of the protocol, studies will be carried out under the coordination of the Leather, Textile and Ceramic Design Application and Research Center operating within Uşak University, and the parties will conduct joint activities in both scientific and technical fields. At the same time, cooperation will be established in a wide range of areas, from education to production, in these three sectors, which are among the university's areas of specialization.

The first step is from the ceramics sector

The first concrete step of the collaboration was taken by Keramika, and the project was started by applying special concept designs prepared by the DTS Design Center onto plates. The design language obtained in this process will be transformed into a more comprehensive structure in later stages by including leather and textile textures.

Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Demir stated that the university carries out studies that contribute to regional development, especially in the fields of leather, textiles, and ceramics, and expressed his belief that this protocol stands out with its multi-stakeholder structure and will yield stronger results. Sector representatives also emphasized that the combination of academic knowledge and production power will play an important role in the creation of competitive and original products.

With this protocol, the parties will cooperate in developing joint projects, conducting fair and catalog activities, carrying out scientific research, and technical improvement processes. Industrial organizations will open their production infrastructure to the projects, while the university will make its technical resources available to the companies, thus creating a sustainable cooperation model where knowledge and production are intertwined.
