Prof. Sevim Cizer's solo exhibition titled "The Other View" was viewed at Eskiiz Art Gallery in Izmir between 28 November and 9 December 2023. The works in the exhibition were presented to the audience with a rich variety of forms consisting of two-dimensional arrangements, abstract forms and bowls. Each work took the viewer on a visual journey as a reflection of the knowledge accumulated as a result of Cizer's research and experiences.

Prof. Sevim Cizer comments on her works in the exhibition from a conceptual and technical perspective as follows:

“One of the most important concepts of today is the other… Otherness includes being pushed, humiliated, being a stranger and not being accepted, but on the other hand, it also includes difference…

What happens around us in daily life is about others, alienation, the perception of otherness... Even the rules only apply to others…

Today's people live in a hypocritical world where love and friendship disappear, where there is no reality left, and a shallow and fake life is tried to be lived like a game. We have become captives of a control mechanism that destroys our human sensitivities and seizes our ethical norms, and we are presented with a culture of life imposed by these forces…

Humanity has not and does not hesitate to destroy its own species for more ambition and satisfaction. The history of humanity, drowned in blood, has always been shaped by that selfish, individualistic insatiability and barbarism that destroys others while producing itself.

Today, most of us do not even want to take the time or make an effort to get to know each other…

When luster material is used to produce art objects, it increases your perspective on the object, just as we can come to different conclusions when we look at life from different perspectives…

When viewing a luster work, at first glance it looks like just an eye-catching painted surface. However, when you change your perspective with your movement and a light hits its surface at the appropriate angle, you are greeted with a visual surprise. Doesn't this show that our perception and opinion can change as we change our perspective?

It’s changing appearances create a metaphor, evoking not only different but also other views and thoughts. It even draws the viewer into the mysterious depths of the object and drags you into the "OTHER VIEW”…

“The Other View” is an attempt to perceive a different world and express its longing…”
