THE GROUP THAT GETS RICHER WITH ITS’ DISSIMILARITIES: DEJA VU

Coming together and opening group exhibitions by early 2000s, the Deja Vu group will again meet the art lovers in April with the exhibition to be opened in Muratpasa Municipality’s Turkan Soray Culture Center Exhibition Hall. The group activities of artists who grew from different institutions and ecoles and have dissimilar artistic approaches, are getting richer with these dissimilarities.

Deja Vu Group consists of academicians and artists who had education in the ceramic departments of different fine arts faculties in 1990s and worked together in exhibitions, competitions and various art environments. The Group first came together in 2002 in Istanbul Stock Exchange Art Gallery by the participation of Kaan Canduran, Mustafa Agatekin, Kadir Sevim, Elif Aydogdu Agatekin and Vedat Kacar. Then it opened its’ first exhibition with the name Deja vu in 2015 in Ankara Nurol Art Gallery and in this exhibition Burcu Ozturk Karabey, Emre Feyzoglu, Mursit Cemal Ozcan also get involved in the group. With Soner Pilge’s and Candan Gungor’s attendance in years, Deja Vu Group continued its’ organizations with ten artists.

Deja Vu Group; with exhibitions they opened by coming together outside their individual artistic journeys coming from different institutions and ecoles and for the sake of sharing the variety and beauty that come with dissimilarities, they opened exhibitions in Ankara (Nurol Art Gallery 2015), Mugla (Dibeklihan Culture and Art Village 2017), Izmir (Peri Art Gallery 2019), Bodrum (Chamber of Commerce Art Gallery 2020) to this day. They continue to share and enhance the variety and beauty of dissimilarity in the Turkish ceramic art by inviting also other guest artists for every exhibition they opened in recent years.

The group has suspended their activities due to the pandemic and now they come before art lovers with the exhibition opened on the 7th of April 2023 in Antalya Muratpasa Municipality’s Turkan Soray Culture Center Exhibition Hall. Along with Burcu Ozturk Karabey, Emre Feyzoglu, Kaan Canduran, Mursit Cemal Ozcan, Mustafa Agatekin, Kadir Sevim, Elif Aydogdu Agatekin, Vedat Kacar, Soner Pilge and Candan Gungor, Aziz Baha Orken and Sebnem Baha also took place in this exhibition with their works.
