Mehmet Mercan, Secretary General of the Turkish Ceramics Federation, attended the 31st EPCF, held on December 2, 2025, representing the federation.
2025 Ceramic Days dedicated to “Ceramics: Building a Sustainable Europe and Greener World”. The 31st EPCF Plenary Meeting notably focused on competitiveness. The event started with the presentation by high-level executives of 2 case studies under the topic “Strengthening Europe through a competitive ceramic industry”. Case study 1 on Durable, circular and innovative ceramics for a sustainable Europe and low carbon future, and Case study 2 on Current challenges to the competitiveness of the EU ceramic industry.
It followed by a Panel debate with high-level representatives of the EU Institutions and experts on How to foster a stable business environment in the current regulatory and geopolitical context, more particularly in the context of a strategic but very heterogeneous sector such as ceramics, highly exposed to the growing cumulated impact of energy, carbon and regulatory costs, while being highly exposed to international trade and largely composed of local energy-intensive industries and SMEs or small mid-cap enterprises (SMCs).
