POLAND'S FIRST CERAMIC SCULPTURE TRIENNALE

The inaugural edition of the International Ceramic Sculpture Triennial Poland ICST, organized by the International Ceramic Sculpture Triennial Association and the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, took place. The main exhibition, open to artists from around the world, took place from June 26 to October 26.


The International Ceramic Sculpture Triennale Poland ICST which was held for the first time this year, is an open, international competition for artists from all over the world working in the matter of ceramics. This initiative is the only and very first event of this kind in Poland and held by the International Ceramic Sculpture Triennale Association and by The Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.



The establishment of the ICST is a response to the needs and aspirations of the ceramic artistic community, it is also a step towards fulfilling the expectations of the art audience. The aim of the Competition is to provide an overview of European and worldwide ceramic sculpture, to present current trends and endeavours in contemporary artistic ceramics as well as to elevate the significance and potential of ceramic matter. 



For the first edition of the Triennale the international jury has selected 52 individuals from a total of 678 applications to take part in the exhibition. Awards were given to the following artists: Grand Prix/ Kim Hyunjin (Korea), 1st Prize/  Mette Maya  Gregersen (Denmark), 2nd Prize/ Heidi Hentze (Denmark), 3rd Prize/ Joanna Opalska-Brzecka   (Poland), Honorable Mention/ Dmitrij (Buławka-Fankidejski  Poland), Honorable Mention/ Marina Kuchinski  (USA), Special Partner’s Award in the form of a residency stay at the Creative Workhouse from The Faculty of Ceramics and Glass at the E. Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław / Eglė Einikytė-Narkevičienė   (Lithuania), Special Partner’s Award in the form of a residency stay at the Polish Porcelain Factories “Ćmielów” and “Chodzież”/ Hanna Miadzvedzeva   (Poland), Special Award in the form of a residency stay at the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Ceramics/ Puszczyński Michał (Poland), Special Partner’s Award from Porto.art/ Stella Zadros   (Poland).


The main exhibition of The International Ceramic Sculpture Triennale Poland showed from 26th June to 26th October at Punkty Gallery, Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
