The second hanterra ceramics competition, organized by hanterra, aims to encourage the use of functional handmade ceramics and high quality and original designs. The application deadline for the competition is 30th December 2022, and the subject matter is a “lidded form”.
hanterra ceramics competition, within the rising popularity of ceramics, aims to remind the importance of good design, uniqueness and quality of build; to encourage handmade ceramic works that demonstrate what can be done with ceramics and reflect creativity and imagination; to reward the time, effort and care the ceramist spends while creating a handmade functional ceramic, as well as the imagination and thought that goes into the creative process.
Sponsored by Sibelco, Colorobbia Art, Valentine Clays and Mars Hobby and Studio Kilns, this year’s subject matter is a lidded form. Lidded vessels have many examples in the history of ceramics since 3100 B.C. and this year’s entries are expected to be both functionally and technically competent, as well as aesthetically original, creative and contemporary examples. Open to everyone living in Turkey and interested in ceramics. The submitted works must be original, made for this competition and have not participated in any another competition. The works should not have been exhibited anywhere including on social media, in newsletters or on websites.
This year’s entries for hanterra ceramics competition shall be evaluated by international jury that includes Elif Aydoğdu Ağatekin (Turkey), Güngör Güner (Turkey), Mieke Montagne (Netherlands) and Tuba Önder Demircioğlu (Turkey). The winner of the competition will be awarded with an achievement award and a hanterra gift voucher worth 15,000 TL and three honourable mentions will be awarded with a hanterra gift voucher worth 3,500 TL each.
