hanterra CERAMİC COMPETITION 2025 ANNOUNCES ITS WINNERS

The winners of the Ceramic Competition, organized for the fourth time this year by hanterra, have been announced. The theme for the 2025 competition was set as “TEAPOT”, aiming to celebrate both the traditional and contemporary aspects of ceramic art, while highlighting originality and quality in functional, handmade ceramic production.



Open to anyone residing in Turkiye with an interest in ceramics, the hanterra Ceramic Competition was held with the sponsorship of Sibelco, Colorobbia Art, Valentine Clays, Mars Hobi, and Stüdyo Firinlari.


This year’s jury panel included Sevim Cizer [Turkiye], Baris Cekin [Turkiye], Anne Marie Jetten [Netherlands], Tuba Onder Demircioglu [Turkiye], and Teppei Yamashita [Japan]. The jury evaluated the works based on their relevance to the theme, functionality, ergonomics, originality of design, creative approach, and technical competence.

Following the evaluations, Ekin Kalac was awarded the Grand Prize. Honorable Mentions went to Sandra Lucy Aydin Moll and Derin Sevil Bodur. A total of 41 works by 38 participants were deemed worthy of exhibition. Artists awarded the Exhibition Prize are Gulnur Akbas, Enes Aksoy, Filiz Aktugan Yelken, Gulce Albayrak, Nuray Albayrak, Ilyas Arapoglu, Ecem Elif Atalay, Bilge Armagan Bilgin, Selale Buke, Asli Ciceksoy, Sara Dadashlou, Yucel Dincer, Sevilay Emirza Yildiz, Beyza Nur Eroglu, Tahir Turan Eroglu, Anais Hoch, Murat Kafesogullari, Mehtap Karaoglu, Yasemin Kayan Hanci, Berk Kemiklioglu, Baris Kockan, Meltem Korkmaz, Aysima Koseoglu, Yasin Mardin, Mahnaz Mohammadzadeh Mianji, Demir Kaan Onen, Sule OngOr, Ceylin Oztarhan Mullally, Gonca Ozturk, Tulin Ozturk, Lys Rattoray Tevke, Arda Melik Samancı, Ozge Sener, Sevval Sengül, Ceren Tunasat Ucan, Emine Turan, Nesrin Tursucular, and Filiz Yildirimkaraman.



The award ceremony took place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Jeanne D’Arc Exhibition and Concert Hall of the Private Saint Michel High School. The exhibition was open to visitors from April 13 to April 26.


Since its establishment, hanterra has aimed to bring an innovative and high-quality perspective to the ceramics sector. It connects Turkish ceramic artists with products from renowned local and international manufacturers. In addition to offering a wide range of materials, hanterra continues to play a leading role in the ceramic art community through events and projects that contribute to the development of the field.
