"GETTING TO KNOW OUR MINES" SEMINAR FOR CHILDREN

Mining is one of the most developed industries in Turkiye, a country rich in minerals. The "Getting to Know Our Mines" seminar, organized in collaboration with SERHAM, ITU, and the Sile District Directorate of National Education, provided information to elementary and middle school students about the role of mines in daily life and sustainable mining practices.


A seminar titled "Getting to Know Our Mines" was organized for students and teachers at Necda Moraligil Primary and Middle Schools in collaboration with Istanbul Technical University, the Sile District Directorate of National Education, and the Ceramics, Glass, and Cement Raw Materials Producers Association (SERHAM). Held on May 12, the seminar provided information on the importance of mines in children's daily lives, sustainable mining practices, environmentally friendly mining technologies, and Turkiye's underground resources.



The seminar was presented by ITU Faculty of Mines Dean Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kumral, ITU Mining Engineering Department Head Prof. Dr. Abdullah Fisne, ITU Geological Engineering Department Head Prof. Dr. Senel Ozdamar, ITU Mineral Processing Department Dr. Sukriye Beste Aydin.


Attending the seminar were SERHAM Board Chairman Adnan Geredeli, Kale Group Vice President and SERHAM Member Altug Akbas, SERHAM Board Vice Chairman Ibrahim Atilla Ucar, SERHAM Board Member Riza Eren Karabulut, and Turkish Ceramics Federation Deputy Secretary General Yasemin Ercetin Akyar.


The seminar, which attracted considerable student interest, is planned to be held in other regions.
