Proving the detailed environmental impacts of the materials it produce and being the first company in Turkey to obtain the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), Kaleseramik now also became the first company in Turkey to obtain the Health Product Declaration (HPD) for its’ wall tile product groups.
Manufacturing sustainable products with an eco-friendly production manner, Kaleseramik is continuing to designate the standards in Turkey’s ceramic sector. Being the first company in Turkey to obtain the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in 2010, Kaleseramik has now achieved a new success in sector. Kaleseramik became the first company in Turkey to obtain the Health Product Declaration (HPD) for its’ wall tile product groups, which accurately, safely and perspicuously proves the health and environmental impacts of the ingredients of the products used in buildings. Representing a higher level of LEED certificates, one of the most prestigious green building rating systems of the world, HPD certificate is deemed as one of the most important requirements of the Well certificates which aimed at improving the health level of buildings.
Kaleseramik General Manager Altug Akbas indicated that certificates aiming healthy, sustainable and environmental production have become much more important in international trade as a result of the pandemic and said:
“The primary agenda of world public opinion before the pandemic with United Nations coming at first, the global warming and sustainable production has become more important with the pandemic. Today, architects, investors and project staffs preparing the specifications, are preferring manufacturers which disclose the ingredient of the building material, while choosing materials. That’s why Health Product Declaration (HPD) has great importance both for us and for our sector. As Kaleseramik, with the ‘there’s no other world’ principle, we take all our activities from design to production at hand with a wholistic perpective for many years. In order to left a more habitable and sustainable world for future generations, we endeavour to carry out every aspect shaping the economy, from production to trade, supply chain to productivity, on the basis of respect to environment and nature. Thereby we look at either the Environmental Product Declaration and the Health Product Declaration we obtained recently, as an indicator of how well we do our job rather than a certificate. Within this context, we conduct and support many innovative projects which will guide the sector, from preventing wastes to raw materials, final product to material and process improvements, in our Kaleseramik R&D Center in line with innovation and sustainability principles.”
