ECZACIBAŞI VITRA APPOINTS NEW CMO

Tahsin Akar has been appointed as the CMO of Eczacıbaşı Building Materials, Türkiye's first and largest manufacturer and exporter of ceramic sanitary ware. Akar, who started his duties on March 2, 2026, will manage the marketing of the VitrA, Artema, and burgbad brands.
Tahsin Akar, who has been appointed as CMO at Eczacıbaşı Building Materials, most recently served as Deputy General Manager responsible for the footwear category at LC Waikiki. Akar will lead the marketing and communication strategies, as well as the design and innovation processes, of the VitrA, Artema, and burgbad brands.

Commenting on Tahsin Akar's assumption of office on March 2, 2026, Eczacıbaşı Building Materials CEO Hasan Pehlivan stated, “VitrA, Artema, and burgbad stand out not only with their strong product ranges but also with their powerful brand identities fueled by design and innovation. I believe that Tahsin Akar's more than 30 years of marketing experience in international companies and dynamic sectors will further advance our brands both in Türkiye and abroad.”
Tahsin Akar, a graduate of Marmara University's Department of International Relations, began his career at Unilever in 1995. Until 2005, he worked in sales, then in product management and marketing roles across the food, home cleaning, and personal care categories. From 2005-2006, he continued his career as Marketing Manager at Evyap. Between 2006 and 2012, he held the positions of Category Marketing Manager, Category Marketing Manager (Eastern Europe), and Global Brand Marketing Manager at Reckitt. From 2012-2016, he served as Marketing Director at Turkcell, first responsible for the youth segment and then for individual mobile services. From 2016-2016, he worked as Deputy General Manager at LC Waikiki.
