CERAMICS STUDENTS MET WITH PROFESSIONALS

  • Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics, brought its students together with professionals from the art world in three event series held in November and December 2025. İbrahim Yıldızbaş, Muhammet Emir Taşdemir and Sevinç Köseoğlu Ulubatlı shared guiding information for career planning.


Reinforcing its mission of blending academic education with industry professionals, the Ceramics Department of Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Ceramics hosted presentations and practical workshops addressing various dimensions of ceramic art.



The first meeting of the event series took place with the participation of ceramic artist İbrahim Yıldızbaş, founder of Abraham Creative Studio. Yıldızbaş, who attracted great interest from the students, gave a presentation titled “From Craft to Art, From Art to Market: The Transforming Role of Ceramics.” Analyzing the place and commercial potential of ceramic works in today's market conditions, the artist shared guidance on how aspiring artists can plan their career paths in this field and how to take their art to a professional level. Yıldızbaş also shared his unique techniques in a workshop titled “The Language of Clay: Exploring the Limits of Expression in Ceramics.”


Luster Firings in the Footsteps of Light



Another ceramic artist, Muhammet Emir Taşdemir, in his presentation titled "Experimental Approaches in the Footsteps of Light: Luster," examined the historical development and experimental applications of the luster technique, which creates dazzling reflections on ceramic surfaces. Following this, a practical workshop titled "Experimental Approaches: In-Glaze Luster from Reducing Medium Lusters" was held in the Raku Kilns of the Ceramics Department. This workshop offered students the opportunity to personally experience the impressive results obtained by firing luster glazes in a reducing medium and to learn the intricacies of the technique on-site.


Copper Matte in the Magic of Colors


The series concluded with a presentation and workshop by Assoc. Prof. Sevinç Köseoğlu Ulubatlı. Beginning the program with a presentation titled "In the Language of Plastic; The Journey of Colors in Pursuit of Hope," the artist explained how ceramic forms and surfaces meet aesthetic language. The practical part of the day, a workshop titled "Aesthetic Encounter in the Magic of Colors: Copper Matte Firing Technique," was also held in the Raku Kilns of the Ceramics Department. Participants, guided by the artist, explored the intricacies of Copper Matte, a special reduction firing technique, and learned ways to create different color and texture depths on ceramic surfaces.



Anadolu University's Ceramics Department, by hosting such industry professionals, has once again reinforced its mission of providing its students with up-to-date and comprehensive education in both academic and practical fields. The events made significant contributions to deepening the technical knowledge of aspiring artists and broadening their vision for a professional art career.
