CERAMIC AND COMPOSITE MATERIALS SYMPOSIUM ATTRACTED GREAT ATTENTION

The International Ceramics and Composite Materials Symposium (ICCMS 2024), which brings together international academics in the field of ceramics and composite materials, was held online on 15-16 November 2024.

The symposium, which was attended by 174 academics from 13 different countries and attracted great attention at national and international levels as an important scientific event in its field, was organized in cooperation with Suleyman Demirel University (SDU) and the Institute of Economic Development and Social Research. The Symposium Organization Committee was chaired by SDU Faculty of Fine Arts Ceramics and Glass Department Head and Ceramics Research and Application Center Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Serap Unal.

The symposium was organized within the framework of the “Field-Based Competency Analysis Report” determined by TUBITAK and the Council of Higher Education (YOK), after Suleyman Demirel University and Eskisehir Technical University were declared as universities specializing in the field of “Ceramics and Composite Materials” in Turkiye. The symposium, which was organized with the motivation provided by this academic honor, brought together important names of the international academic community by discussing the latest scientific developments, innovative technologies and interdisciplinary approaches in the field of ceramics and composite materials. In addition, a ceramic exhibition was opened within the scope of the event, where works produced with traditional and modern ceramic techniques were exhibited, bringing together ceramic art and science.

The prominent topics of the symposium were: Archaeological Ceramics, Artistic Ceramics and Ceramic Technology, High-Tech Ceramics and Innovative Uses of Traditional Ceramics, New Applications of Composite Materials in Industry and Art, The Effect of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies on Ceramic Design, Synthesis of Traditional Ceramic Art with Modern Engineering Materials.
