Anadolu University Fine Arts Faculty Glass Department Head Prof. Mustafa Agatekin handed over the duty to Dr. Lecturer Mehmet Aydin. Founded in 2004, the department is the first and only one in Turkiye in terms of infrastructure and equipment.
The Glass Department of Anadolu University Faculty of Fine Arts, which opened in the 2004-2005 Academic Year, is the first and only one in Turkiye in terms of infrastructure and equipment. The department aims to train glass artists who are equipped in every way and have technical, aesthetic and creative design knowledge related to glass art. Prof. Mustafa Agatekin, who has been serving as the Department Head for many years, handed over his duty in this relay race to Dr. Lecturer Mehmet Aydin. Agatekin said, “I have handed over my duty as the department head, which I have been carrying out with struggle, passion, patience and love with my students and colleagues for a long time, to my dear colleague Mehmet Aydin with peace of mind and confidence. The fire of the furnace is now entrusted to him, we will continue to work together in the future.”

New Department Head Mehmet Aydin was born in Usak in 1981. He graduated from Anadolu University Bozuyuk Vocational School Ceramics Program in 2002. He started his undergraduate education in Anadolu University Fine Arts Faculty Ceramics Department in the same year. He graduated as the top student in his department in 2006 and started working as a research assistant in Anadolu University Fine Arts Faculty Glass Department. He graduated from Anadolu University Fine Arts Institute Glass Thesis Master's Program in 2016 and started Dokuz Eylul University Fine Arts Institute Ceramics and Glass Design Art Proficiency Program. The artist, who graduated from the art proficiency program in 2021 and participated in national and international group exhibitions, has five awards, one of which is international.
