AKCOAT STRENGTHENED ITS RENEWABLE ENERGY COMMITMENT

Taking its commitment to sustainability one step further, Akcoat managed to obtain I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate), which certifies its use of renewable energy. The company announced that it provides 73 percent of its energy consumption from renewable sources.

Akcoat, an expert in many product groups such as enamel, ceramics, glass, non-stick, decorative coatings and pigments, has reached an important milestone in its sustainability journey. By obtaining the international certificate I-REC, which certifies the use of renewable energy, the company has officially certified that it meets a large portion of its energy consumption from clean sources.

Underlining that they will provide 73 percent of their energy consumption from renewable sources in 2024, thanks to Akcoat's cooperation with Sepas Enerji, Akcoat General Manager Burc Yildirim said:

What is I-REC Certificate?

I-REC is an international certification standard that verifies that the electricity produced or consumed is provided by renewable energy sources. This certificate, which includes the source of electricity production, production date and other relevant details, offers significant advantages to both producers and consumers by ensuring the traceability of renewable energy. Additionally, it contributes to both national and international energy targets by reducing carbon emissions and ensures the sustainability of energy trade.
