  • Kalebodur introduced its Translucent Light-Transmitting Porcelain Plate technology, which redefines the relationship between light and material, with a special launch event held at Hope Alkazar. This experience, built around Translucent's translucent surfaces, brought together light, touch, taste, and sound.

Kalebodur's new Translucent light-transmitting porcelain tile technology combines controlled light transmission and privacy, offering new design possibilities for architects and designers. Developed in a thickness of only 3 mm and a large size of 100x300 cm, Translucent creates a soft and homogeneous lighting effect by allowing controlled light transmission while blocking direct vision. With its semi-transparent structure, the product transforms the surface from being merely a material into an active component of the spatial experience.

Leading the way in a new era where light meets architecture, Kale Group introduced Kalebodur's Translucent Light-Transmitting Porcelain Plate technology at a special launch event held at Hope Alkazar. Hosted by Kale Group President and CEO Zeynep Bodur Okyay and Kaleseramik General Manager Timur Karaoğlu, the event was attended by guests from the fields of architecture, design, gastronomy, and business. This experience, built around Translucent's surfaces, brought together light, touch, taste, and sound.

At the heart of the launch was a 12-meter-long Translucent table. This arrangement, designed around the translucent texture of a light-transmitting porcelain plate, transformed the concept of surface from a mere material into a stage element that guided perception. Integrated 3D mapping shows connected the transitions of light and shadow to a rhythm harmonious with the nature of the material. An AI-powered navigation approach created an intuitive and personalized experience by tailoring the flow of the experience to the participants' locations, incorporating timing and visual themes.

The most striking part of the evening was the experience conceived with “el’le Experiences’” neurogastronomy approach, centering on the sense of touch. Participants explored flavor not only through their taste buds but also through touch. The invisible connection between touch, taste, and sound was perceived through the surfaces of the light-transmitting porcelain plate. The evening, designed with a multi-sensory experience, transformed into a memorable narrative.

An innovation that places light at the center of design

Zeynep Bodur Okyay emphasized at the launch that Translucent is not just a product, but a design philosophy that redefines the relationship between spaces and light. Reminding that Kalebodur has been a pioneer in large-format production for over 20 years as Türkiye's first porcelain slab manufacturer, Okyay stated that the translucent porcelain slab offers unlimited possibilities to the imagination of architects and designers.

Translucent, realized with the world's thinnest porcelain slab production technology, offers both lightness and a large surface area advantage with its 3 mm thickness and 100x300 cm large size scale. Its thin and light structure increases ease of application and transportation efficiency while keeping the load on the structure at a minimum level. Technical performance characteristics such as the low water absorption rate, stain resistance, scratch and impact resistance inherent in the nature of porcelain material ensure that the translucent porcelain slab remains long-lasting even in high-traffic spaces. Its hygienic and easy-to-clean surface creates an additional advantage, especially for healthcare facilities and food service establishments.

Translucent's structure allows controlled light transmission while blocking direct vision, providing privacy. This feature makes the product suitable for a wide range of applications, from residential to commercial designs, office partitions to boutique hotels and restaurants, spas and wellness centers to shop windows and lobby designs. Creative usage scenarios such as backlit wall panels, space dividers, suspended ceiling applications, and furniture surfaces also open up new design possibilities for architects and interior designers. In addition, the translucent porcelain plate, which contributes to more efficient use of natural light, reduces the need for artificial lighting, thus supporting energy savings.
