A’ DESIGN AWARD FOR MASTER ARTIST

A cup by Gungor Guner, one of the important artists of contemporary Turkish ceramics, won the Silver Award in the Handmade, Crafts and Artisan category of the world-famous design competition A’ Design Award 2024-2025.

The A' Handmade, Crafts and Artisan Design Award, a highly prestigious international design competition, has announced its comprehensive prize package for the 2024-2025 competition period. A cup by Gungor Guner, one of the important artists of contemporary Turkish ceramics, won the Silver Award in the competition. Guner is known for her conceptual ceramic works as well as the original functional vessels she shapes on the potter's wheel. The artist has expressed her views on this subject as follows: "I think functionality does not take anything away from the work, in fact, it would then leave museums and enter homes, and be in the hands of the public. Why shouldn't I put my fruit in a work or drink my soup?.. Of course, not every bowl or other form of ceramic that is made is a work of art; but a bowl also has the right to be a work of art..."
